Tom Ham’s Lighthouse review

If you think $50 dollars a person is worth a view of the San Diego Harbor, you will enjoy Tom Ham’s Lighthouse. If you would rather get good service, good food, and a view of the San Diego Harbor for the same price pick any other restaurant nearby. The service was crude. The waiter sloshed our margaritas onto our laps and then gave us attitude when we requested different drinks (the salt customarily on the rim had miraculously disappeared into the bottom of our drinks). The food was horribly plated. The rice was cool to touch. The meat was not cooked to request (is rare too much to ask for?). The vegetables tasted like cooking oil. I will not even comment on the scallops.
Back to the service. The waiter offered to split the check. The check was wrong. What do you think the waiter said when we brought it to his attention? He said, “Well we don’t usually split the check. That was the best I could do. I was just doing you a favor, and you can’t expect too much. It all evens out”.

Too bad my grandmother was there.

Countertops!

Countertops made out of a variety of materials…

Subzero/Wolf/Viking/Thermador

Subzero PRO 480 refrigerator: Possibly the coolest refrigerator ever made.

Wolf 60” Gas Range: The most ridiculously expensive gas range ever made for consumer use.

Viking 36” Freezer: It’s very exciting to see that Kenmore, GE, and Frigidaire are releasing ‘pro’ models of their major kitchen appliances to compete with Viking, Subzero, and Wolf.
Viking 36” Freezer

Thermador 36″ Cooktop with 6 burners (2 w/extralow): Based on a couple of reviews I’ve read, Thermador’s star pattern of burners distribute heat more evenly than standard ring patterns.

Ekornes Chairs

Ekornes’ Stressless recliners are insanely comfortable.
Ekornes Stressless - Taurus Model

I was a little put off at first by the high price, but Ekornes’ Stressless chairs are the only consumer chairs endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association. That’s at least kinda cool, right? Makes you want to drop a couple grand on a recliner, right? Me too. I like it when people with advanced degrees tell me what to buy.

The attachable personal table looks very handy for studying…

Tri-City Medical Center

Our illustrious North County hospital, Tri-City Medical Center, had the pleasure of my company one night. I found out my hand is too big to wash glass cups the hard way. No problem, right? Just needs a few stitches I told myself. I should have let my wife sew me up with dental floss like she wanted to…
